Vera Wang
Selfridges, London, United Kingdom, 2006–2007
This project was for the first in-store bridal salon at Selfridges in London to showcase bridal gowns, fragrances and accessories by the acclaimed designer, Vera Wang, in partnership with London based bridal registry, The Wedding Shop.
Set within a retail landscape, the salon offers clientele a series of discreet spaces for the selection and fitting of gowns and related accessories. The project was designed in concert with an adjacent concession for The Wedding Shop, and maintains similar formal and material attributes.
A central, axial display area for presentation of the gowns is flanked by two more private spaces for gown selection. Floor to ceiling mirror doors conceal large fitting rooms beyond and create a sense of theatre in the otherwise unadorned interior.
The simply composed spaces and soft palette of limed ash, translucent glass and dove grey carpet provide an understated background to the delicately designed and crafted bridal couture.
