Altima Monte Carlo

Monaco, 2006–2007

Situated in the podium of L’Estoril, a prominent building overlooking the Mediterranean in Monte Carlo, this project provides 250 m2 of office space for an International Investment company.

A double height entrance hall and reception lined with travertine and ash panelling intersect and connect directly with offices on the level above. Acoustic separation is achieved by large panes of glass either side of the entrance hall void. The interlocking volumes, providing relief to the otherwise horizontal spaces, are reminiscent of a Van Doesberg composition.

The simply planned offices, with extensive views on two sides towards Plage du Larvotto, are separated from the kitchen, technical and bathroom facilities by full height ash storage walls and glazed partitions. Furniture and task lighting is kept simple and background lighting is discreet and indirect. The calm, interior atmosphere contrasts with the adjacent promenade and beach life.
